LIGHTHOUSE APOSTOLIC MINISTRIES was founded on March 5, 1995 by Rev. Miguel A. Hernandez, Jr.  He held the first service at his North Phoenix home on Evans Drive.  Pastor Hernandez preached to three visiting adults, his four children, and his wife.  After the first service, Pastor and family relocated to his current home in Peoria, Arizona, where he continued to hold services through the month of March.

On April 7, 1995 God provided a store front building, in Peoria’s Historical District, where the church is presently located.  At this location we started with 45 members and have grown to 160 registered members in five years.  Due to the rapid expansion of the church, we established the Sunday School department with 5 segregated classes:

● Nursery Class (Birth to 4 years old).

● Beginners Class (5 to 8 years old).

● Middlers/Juniors (8 to 13 years old).

● Young People (14-18 years old).

● English Adults.

Lighthouse Apostolic first organized two groups in December 1995.  The Ladies Auxiliary or “Ladies of the Light” and the Juniors to become operational in January 1996.  In December 1996, the first local elections were held to organize the Juniors, Youth, Ladies, and Men’s groups.  The following names were given to the groups:

Children – “Lighthouse Keepers”

Juniors – “Joshua Generation”

Youth -- "Chozen Generation"

Ladies – “Ladies of the Light”

Men – “Men of Valor”

Today, LIGHTHOUSE APOSTOLIC MINISTRIES is a multi-cultural church.  We presently have an English worship service and a Spanish worship service.

Outreach ministries include:

● Good Samaritan Program

● Social Assistance

● Woman at the Well program

● Incendiary Group

● Children’s Ministries

We currently own 2 acres of land near 85th Ave. and Olive Ave., and are in the process of developing the land to construct a sanctuary with a seating capacity of 500.  This new facility will include a Multi-purpose room for Banquets, Social functions, sports tournaments, and other activities.  A women’s shelter/transitional home for Battered Women, a Christian Academy, an after school program, summer educational/physical programs, a food bank, a thrift store, a Day Care Center, a Christian Bookstore, classes on single parenting and other social outreach and Community services will added to this Lighthouse Christian Center.
